Machine Work

Process

Your project begins with machine work to the block. If Contractor provides an engine block, Contractor will complete all necessary machine work to the block, and will inform the Client of what was completed. The price of typical machine work is included in the engine quote. In the event the Client has provided an engine block, the block will be assessed and a list of needed machine work will be provided. Original engine price quote assumes the block is in serviceable condition. If the block is not within normal parameters and more machine work is needed, the price is subject to change. We cannot guarantee time estimations for machine work due to parts, machine maintenance, and availability. If a specific timeline is desired, Contractor must be informed before the beginning of the project.

Decision Making

Once machine work is completed, the engine build details cannot be changed without an additional fee. Machine work sets your engine up for a certain build, and changes at that point may require new machining, additional cost, new parts, or otherwise. Changes require a change order in writing, signed by both parties, and any additional assessed fees will be due at the time of the change order.

Parts Ordering & Selection

Process

Contractor will work with Client to determine the best parts selection to fit the needs of the Client. Client will communicate objectives and goals to Contractor, who will then design a build to fit said goals. Client recognizes that Contractor has the experience and knowledge necessary to recommend parts combinations and design builds, and that parts selection is at the sole discretion of Contractor. If Client desires specific parts or brand names, Client will communicate this to Contractor and Contractor will attempt to fit desired parts into the build. It is not guaranteed that desired parts will be able to be used, as engine combinations are specific and proprietary.

Change Orders

Once any engine parts have been ordered, the engine build details cannot be changed without an additional fee. If Client desires changes, new parts can be ordered for an additional cost, and any changes require a change order in writing, signed by both parties, with any additional assessed fees due at the time of the change order.

Assembly & Blueprinting

Process

Contractor will begin engine assembly once machine work is completed and parts have arrived. Engines are professionally assembled by Contractor with 10+ years of high performance engine building experience. All engines are professionally measured and blueprinted to ensure exact specifications and quality standards are met and exceeded. Engines will be accompanied by a build sheet for the Client’s records and information. Engine will be assembled to the specified level indicated above, whether that is Short Block, Long Block, or Turn Key, and guaranteed to perform to the level of horsepower specified above.

Quality

There is a possibility that parts ordered may not fit the standard measurement range needed for correct assembly. If that is the case, parts will be sent back and new parts will be purchased, and Client will be informed. This may cause unforeseen delays in assembly that Contractor is not responsible for. All engine builds are subject to parts availability, and any delays in shipping, manufacturing, or parts quality issues are not the responsibility of Contractor.

Break In

Depending on level of assembly, Short Block and Long Blocks will not receive Engine Break In performed by Contractor. For all Turn Key motors, engine will be professionally run and broken in by Contractor. For all Short/Long Block level builds, professional break in procedure is required to be performed before normal use. Flag Motorsports will provide break in instructions, and break in must be documented for warranty purposes. Break in must occur within 3 months of engine delivery, and documentation must be provided to Flag Motorsports in email to info@flagmotorsports.com. If break in procedure is not performed and/or documentation is not provided to Flag Motorsports within 3 months of engine delivery, the warranty will be void.

Terms

The terms and conditions below this heading apply to any and all services, and apply to both the Contractor and any subcontractors in the process of rendering the above services.

Cancellation

The Client or Contractor may cancel this contract. In the event of cancellation, it is agreed that the Contractor is entitled to keep the deposit as compensation for work done up to the point of contract cancellation. If the project is canceled by the Contractor before the project reaches the assembly stage, a refund will be given for the deposit amount minus the cost of any completed services, such as machine work, parts ordering, etc. Once engine assembly has begun, no refund would be available.

Contact

In the event that a Client cannot be reached for more than 30 days regarding the status of their Engine at any stage of the project, Contractor will make up to three reasonable and documented attempts to contact Client. This will be documented via text, email, or phone call record. If Client does not respond for over 30 days from the first contact attempt, Contractor shall invoice Client $500 per month for storage fees. If Client does not respond for over 60 days from first contact attempt, Contractor has the right to assume ownership of the engine as well as any parts ordered for the project, and sell the engine and parts. Contractor is also entitled to keep the deposit to put towards machine work fees, parts costs, assembly fees, and or storage fees.

Warranty

Flag Motorsports offers a 12 month engine warranty covering parts and labor defects. Proper engine break in must be followed, as specified above, to receive the warranty. Flag Motorsports also requires engine maintenance to be closely followed to receive a warranty. Each engine build will specify what oil to use, and that oil MUST be used in the engine. Oil must be changed every 3,000 miles OR 6 months, whichever comes first, with reputable shop documentation. There is no additional warranty expressed or implied. For any high performance or racing applications including but not limited to road race, drifting, drag racing, or circle track racing, there is no warranty expressed or implied. High performance motors run at the edge of parts tolerances and often operate in harsh conditions. Client understands that for racing applications Contractor makes no guarantees of engine durability.
